Mūrmuiža Fortified Tower

Mūrmuiža is first mentioned in documents from the 17th century. The oldest building of the major is a fortified tower built in the 16th century. It was intially the dwelling tower of the Livoniean Order outside the city. As the chamber of the village it was first used for sacral and then commercial activities. The renovated manor-house now houses Beverīna municipality.
The building also has a room set up in rememberance of Zenta Mauriņa.
