Next to the Vidzeme Olympic centre is an enviromental object – a cast in bronze BMX bicycle of Māris Štrombergs BMX, which confirms – Valmiera is the cradle, where the Latvian BMX sport has developed. Valmieriera native Māris Štrombergs is the first and two time Olympic champion in BMX bicycle riding. The bicycle is in the position of landing after a jump, therefore symbolizing movement, power and energy. There is a information plate attached to the object, informing the visitors about Māris Štrombergs’ victories in the Olympic games in Beijing (2008) and London (2012).
